-syndrome (because I never gave them a chance) I

-D (because I’ve always liked them.. really) I

….is finally here. Sorry I slack so much but I was busy absorbing the new-ish SID single. New sounds for the new new year! Lol! It comes with a nifty DVD called “Memories of 2007″. Super entertaining. Though sometimes I can’t help but wonder if Yuya isn’t mildly retarded. I love the man but it seems that every time he looks at the camera he has no choice but to make a icky face. Also, I love green Tea cake…..and Peach Water… Actually…if could, I’d just live off of those two things. But alas, I digress,  The upcoming BLOOD/Sisen concert is weighing in on me right now and I’m failing miserably at finishing/starting my outfit. Oh the fail…-_-. Oh well. In closing, I leave you with Dj Ozma. Ponder that…0_O

Also…I know ozma’s not visual…but he is quite upsetting, and that’s enough for me b(^_^)d

First off,  I am not going to talk about the visual aspects of the bands here. Today, I’m going to talk about sound similarities between bands. So for now (for this post) please forget terms like oshare kei, angura kei, eroguro kei (which are all costuming based anyway). I will mostly be referring to mainstream, popular bands as examples.

In visual kei, there are many diffierent musical styles (as I’m sure you all already know), which for the sake of this post, we’ll call genres. There are pop, rock, pop rock, gothic, metal (all varieties possible), hip hop, electronic pop, dance rock, video game music, circus music, and the undfineable visual rock (there are more too if you really want to break it down further).

Some bands fall under one genre:

*example: Dir en grey are a gore metal band (they might qualify for simply ‘metal’, but Kyo likes blood too much).

Some bands fall under more than one (i.e. multiple!) genres:

*example: Alice Nine. can be considered pop, rock , and metal, but they are best described as pop rock.

And yet other bands change genres over time:

*example: Antic Cafe began as visual rock (and bad visual rock at that!), but they are currently dance rock.

Now of course, this all means that some bands fall under the same genre.

Genre example: Metal

I’d put Gazette, Girugamesh , and Sadie under the genre of metal. Now this does not mean that any of these bands sound the same, but instead that they have something in common (sound wise). Such as, heavier guitar lines, bass & drum driven, screamed vocals, etc… Of all these common elements say to me: metal band!

I chose these three bands on purpose because it seems to be a fairly common thought that all of them sound the same. That isn’t true. And no, Girugamesh doesn’t sound exactly like Gazette, neither does Sadie. And no, they don’t all sound like Dir en grey either. But they are all from the same family of music (if you will) so there should be some common features. How do you recongize siblings if they don’t look anything alike?

In kana according to TINC, visunavi and VKDB, the name ‘TINC ‘ is written as テインク (te-i-n-ku) or “tink” in the English form. They call their fans ティンカー  ( teinkaa) or tincers  pronounced “tinkers” in it’s English form.

This is a simple thing I would think.

TINC is not pronounced as tee-ai-en-shi  or written as テエアイエンシ, as people on livejournal seem to think it is.  What is wrong with livejournal people? I know that it is a cesspool of stupidity, but the people posting this stuff are the so-called ‘intelligent’ fans, the ones who seem to know every single detail. Isn’t this a rather important one?

Even the TINC livejournal community, Haru no Uta, states (quite clearly) that it is pronounced as “tink”. Do I need to publish my merumaga emails from them where it clearly states ”tink” and “tinkers”? This is the second time I’ve seen this in a matter of days, the first post was from another blog (who I won’t name because I respect them) where they were talking about stupid name changes (and they got TINC’s name wrong in the post). The first time didn’t bother me so much because everyone makes mistakes you know? And it was clearly just a mistake.

But this livejournal post… Ohhh…

Now this livejounal post I just discovered is from last March, but this information was already posted in Haru no Uta in December of 2006! Which is four or so months before. And these are the jerk jrock fans who think they’re better than everyone who were posting this info. Also, the person (who was helping another person) got serveral other things about them wrong… like — Shelly Trip Realize did not have a demotape named lies that they released in 2002. They have a giveaway single named Lie!! released in may of 2003.

It really wouldn’t be possible for Sarino to be in Shelly Trip Realize in 2002 since he was in Aioria, and Kenta was in As’REAL in 2002. Takuma was in Syndrome at the time too. Kikasa was in Due’le Quartz in 2002, but they also broke up sometime in the middle of 2002.

And let us not forget that Shelly Trip Realize debuted as a live band with no releases at the Kreis label event on March 31st 2003. It’s doubtful that the band could have formed much before Jan. of 2003 (and if I recall correctly, they did form in Jan.). Supposedly Yukiya matched them up much the way Kisaki helped Riku form Chariots.

Oooo…. I’m so angry!

Regardless, They’re TINC (as in “TINKer bell”). Got it?

And because I’m so angry about this, here’s the merumaga email about the name change that I got December 11 2006, http://www.hikari-shinji.net/hikari/tincers.JPG .
