May 30

Just dropping a short note to post about concert tickets –

5/31 – Free Street Rush Vol. 2 at Harajuku Astro Hall (Bergerac, 176 Biz, Angelique, Jully, Billy, Rentrer en soi))

6/01 – Under Code Production Presents: Deshabillz CD.. etc.. at Shinjuku Holiday (Deshabillz & Megaromania)

6/02 – King of Battle Royal at Shibuya O-East (Vidoll, Shojou Lolita 23 Ku, Duel Jewel, Sugar, Serial number, Modern Suite)

6/03 – Tokyo something Collection Vol. 1 at Shinjuku Holiday (Iori & Jun – don’t know who else)

Finally, my main reason for posting….

Ryan and I went to the Shinjuku Holiday CD shop to buy tickets… it’s attached to the Shinjuku Holiday live venue. And guess who was rehersing for the day (sadie)… As we were walking out, they were hanging out at the front of the building, taking a break (or they were finished).

Just thought I’d tell you.

Went to a lot of places…

We started off the day in Shibuya. Where I dragged Ryan into Tower Records (he wanted to eat), and the Disney store. Talked about getting our passes for Disney through the store.

Then we went to Shinjuku where we got lost, looking for Marui Young and (everything else I wanted to go to)… But we found Hello Kitty.

Eventually, we found nearly everything in Shinjuku: closet child CD shop (where I bought too much), marui young (for clothes), closet child (for clothes), and like an edison (who was sold out of the tickets for tomorrow’s concert… oops?).

We also saw a dead rat on the ground (Ryan wanted me to point this out — it was the most exciting thing he saw).

Shinjuku was very full of construction and faces everywhere (too many host clubs…).

lucky cat (I think we should bring this one home for my mom.)

Then we went to Harajuku to check if the concert was actually sold out (but the ASTRO HALL was having some sort of event and I thought it would be too confusing… so we didn’t ask).

a second kitty?

We also went to a lot of places in Harajuku. Like closet child (boh clothes & CD), Sex pot, death trap id (bought a vidoll shirt), la foret, and… I don’t remember where else.

new sex pot store

notice the last word….

death trap

We ran into a couple of American fans here, short conversation about Ayabie and squash and death…

May 27

I post about my miyavi trip. That’s right, I spent a total of about 900 dollars so that I could see miyavi twice. It was amazing. I spent a total of 5 days in California and went to his first and second shows. Both of them were amazing. I kind of wanted to talk about the whole trip but that you bore anybody who is not me…^_^;; so instead I’ve decided to just go over each concert.

1st concert (May 14th @ the House of Blues in Aneheim)

We arrived in Orange county around 1:00pm and got to the hotel at 2:00. Laura and I went straight to the venue to wait in line. Amanda, Jim and Sascha went inside to wait for the doors to open at around 5:00 (doors opened at 7) Once we got inside time slowed down soooooo much. It was killing me! >_<. He started the concert with JPN Pride (surprise surprise) It was really amazing. He came out like a geisha. He had his fan over his face and had his guitar slung over his shoulder. He had a long skirt thing on over his pants so that when he walked it looked like he was floating (which was remeniscant of kabuki preformances). He spent the intro walking around the stage and pausing at pivitol points in the music. When he started singing he threw the fan and it almost ended up in the crowd. The rest of the concert was kind of a blur becuase I was fighting for my life. However, I do remeber the fail that was involved when it came to the audience doing the right para para. I also remember that throghout the entire show he continued o use Mie (negative space used in kabuki acting to convey emotion or deepen meaning). Also, all of his MC’s were in english.

2nd Concert (May 16th @ the Avalon in Hollywood)

Due to unforseen complications with our driver (compliments of Amanda’s dad) we didn’t arrive at the venue until around 2:30-3:00 ish. Again, the doors opened @ 7 and Amanda and Sascha got seating (Sascha has knee problems btw). We got an opportunity to skip the line by eating at the restraunt attached to the venue so we did. Because of the we got to be in the front row. Laura and I were in front of Jim. Jim protected us both throughout the entire concert. Because of this I remember waaay more about this concert. Again, MYV opened with JPN Prde, followed by a couple other songs from This iz the Japanese Kabuki Rock. After which he made a short MC. at some point during the concert the following things happened:

1. Laura and I cheered on Tyko and he pointed at us. Miyavi was not happy…or so it seemed.

2. After an hour and a hlaf of fruitless effort I finally got hige to aknowledge my existence (he even smiled)

3. Miyavi jumped into our side of the crowd twice. Both times he almost killed himself. The first time I pulled him back by his pants so my fingers were in the top hem of his pants! Then I grabbed the back of his calf to keep him up. The second time I went to his back to support him and got his ass by accident so I seized the opportunity and grabbed….I’m sorry Sascha…his sexy Miyavi-ness was too much.

4. Miyavi and Saro had a dance/guitar battle.

5. Miyavi embaressed Tyko during Osan Osan Ore Nanbo. He made his voice too sexy and Tyko couldn’t imitate him.

6. Miyavi said that he is going to “Crush V-Rock”. (He believes visual-kei music and  bands are no longer progressing like they should be and therefore aims to rebuild VK as something new.) Admirable thought if I do say so myself. Of course generalization is bad.

7. Ryo smiled at my awful attempt to dance during aho matsuri.

8. Substitute DJ, DJ Tailspin did his little solo remix thing while the rest of the KVK BOIZ changed. re-mixes included but are not limited to senor, senora, senorita, Freedom Fighters, and Pop is Dead.

9. Upon returing from his costume change Miyavi was adorned with a bandana of epic proportions and sexy emo pants.

It was an amazing concert that ended in him telling us how much he loves us. Someone had organized a mass audience signing of a poster that said “We love Miyavi” on it. He was touched and made me cry. That reminds me, the front row was much more sucessful at the para para this time around. I think (and this may be my own vanity) it was becuase Laura and I knew what we were doing. Yoshiki turned out to have been at the 2nd show but we left too early and missed him. If I forgot anything I’ll include it later but I think that’s all.
